Harry's Turned Two Weeks Old

Crikey!  In some ways it seems like the last couple of weeks have just flown by.  Harry has made quite the journey from the hospital, and Charlotte and I can almost swear we see him changing within the same day.  I don’t think that Charlotte and I could have asked for a sweeter baby, and after talking to other parents, it sounds like we have been eased into parenting nicely.  The little guy does have a set of pipes on him, but so far he only uses them when he REALLY needs to.

Currently, he is maintaining a great schedule of eating and sleeping, and he has started to spend a little more time awake just chillin’ and checking things out.  He is also quite the little snuggler and the other day he was quite in his glory taking a nap with mom and dad.

The weird thing that I am finding is that I haven’t been taking tons of photos and video of him day to day.  It is definitely a lot less than what I was expecting.  Never fear though, we will be doing his photo session soon and there will be the trickle of snapshots and “serious” photos hitting his web gallery

It has been an awesome experience being his dad for the last two weeks, and to think he wasn’t expected for another week and a few days……

Home with Harry

Good evening… Just a quick note to say that I’m so happy that my son, Harry, was able to come home from the hospital this evening.  It has been a marathon from the last eight days and spending the time with the NICU staff at the Grey Nuns has been amazing.  Even though Harry wasn’t as sick as some of the other babies he/we received such awesome care.  The staff cheered him on through each of his car seat studies, and took the extra time to answered all our questions.  The support we received has been really appreciated and I know that Charlotte and I will be better parents after the amount of daily discussion, tips and training we were given.

Not to really point anyone out, but a special thanks to Jackie who taught me how to change a diaper while negotiating monitor leads and IV tubing in the middle of the night.  Your patience with me as I was passing the twenty-second crazy hour that day is something I won’t forget. Now I’m a pro and don’t know what to do with myself without all the extra wires.  ;-)  Every nurse we had contributed to Harry’s success today, and we can’t say thank you enough.

Really, just a big thank you for all of the support from our family and friends.  You have been fantastic, and both Charlotte and I really appreciate everything from the positive messages, emails and voicemail to the physical help around the house to get ready for Harry.

Thank you!  Now that we are home, there will be a lot more photos and possibly some videos for you to enjoy and share along with us.

Progression Happened Pretty Fast

Here is a short follow up to my last post concerning the upcoming events that are taking place for my family.  As it turns out, a couple of weeks wasn’t required as my wife went into labour with our son three and a half weeks early.  I am now happy to say that I am the proud father of a 6lb. 3oz baby boy named Harry!

I’m sure there will be a lot of journal entries coming concerning him, and I’ve started the main photo gallery for him here on my webpage.

Charlotte and I are so happy and grateful for all of the support and well wishes that everyone has passed along.  Thank you!

So it has started!

Well folks, just an excited little note this evening to announce the arrival of my newest niece Holly!  I am away at work right now, but the photos that Charlotte has been sending me have been absolutely precious.  I believe that she weighed in at 6lb 12oz, and is happy and healthy.  She is now at home getting used to her new surroundings.

I can’t wait to meet her!

Are you ready?

Yes, I know, it has been rather quiet here on the Journal as of late.  If you’d like excuses, I can probably dig a couple up for you, but I’d rather not.  Instead, I’d like to just post a little note to let you know that there are some exciting things on the way.  Here are just a couple of them:

  1. Both my wife and one of her sisters are close to their due dates, and we are excitedly preparing to welcome these little ones into our lives.  Please be assured that there will be photos…. lots of photos…..  you may get tired of the photos….  but I doubt it.
  2. My partner Shannon and myself have been working hard on projects for our venture Vivid Light Studios and will be rolling out some changes and new content on both the main website and blog in the near future.

Please stay tuned to follow along with all the upcoming excitement!
