A Few New Photos

Charlotte and I were able to get away to Banff for our annual Christmastime sojourn.  We just got home earlier this evening, and I was excited to see some of the photos that I took today.  Weather in the mountains can vary drastically, and in true form we received a snowy, overcast day yesterday; and a bright sunny, crisp day today as we were leaving.  The temperature averaged around -20C, and I was excited to be able to photograph mist rising from open water.

In any event, here are a few of my favorite photos from today.  Most were shot at the Vermillion Lakes on the edge of Banff, and one shot of a mountain was close to Spray Lakes close to Canmore.

I hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment.

Happy Holidays

Christmas is my favorite time of year.  I think that it really comes down to the overall attitude of the season.  Whether you are celebrating a religious holiday or just chillin’ and taking advantage of the consumerism of the moment.   Either way, it is a time for family, friends, relaxation and reflection.  It is nice to see people take a step back and put others forward during this time.  Even though that would be nice to see year round, we all know that it doesn’t happen that way.

For myself, this Christmas season is really important, for it represents a lot of new beginnings.  This is Harry’s first Christmas, and even though I know he won’t remember any of it, I will, and that is what counts.  Two years ago, Charlotte and I spent Christmas Eve in the ER finding out, and confirming some not good news.  Last year, we were able to announce that we were expecting Harry, and this year we get to help Harry experience his first Christmas.  That is, as long as he stays sleeping……  ;-)

There have been some other great changes that have taken place over the past few months.  I have resigned from the day job position that kept me out of town most of the time. I start a new day job at the beginning of January and we are very excited.  Not only will I now be able to see my family every day, but I’ll be able to pursue my personal photography projects along with spending more time working with Shannon for Vivid Light Studios.

Overall, this Christmas means a lot to me and currently I am revelling, and basking in it’s glory.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Where am I at?

Well, it’s been a long ride since my last posting back on November 29.  First off, my bother in law Dustin has been released from the hospital and is now completing his recovery at home.  There has been so much support from friends, and family, and the prayers, thoughts or good vibes have been appreciated throughout.  Charlotte and I will be going to visit Dustin and Kristelle next week, and are very excited to see them.

I am really hoping to get revitalized over the next couple of weeks.  It will be busy, Christmas always is, but I am hoping that through it, I can refocus, get energized and get ready to finally finish some outstanding projects and prepare for some new ones coming in the new year.  I’m not sure if I’ve felt this exhausted leading into Christmas before, since coming off shift last Thursday, I haven’t touched my camera and have barely turned on my laptop.

I guarantee this will be changing as I am already feeling the excitement of the upcoming trip to the Vancouver area.  I am not sure that I’ll be able to provide frequent journal updates and photos, but I’ll try to get a couple in.

Thanks for reading!

Merry Christmas!
